Schwäbische Alb/Rothenburg ob der Tauber
23-26 August 2002


 
 

At the end of August 2002 we travelled down to Southern Germany as we were invited to a wedding near Stuttgart. We took the opportunity and toured the surrounding countryside, called the Schwäbische Alb with its castles, churches and picturesque villages: Hohenzollern castle, the Danube valley, Sigmaringen, Zwiefalten, Lichtenstein castle, the stud farm Marbach and Blaubeuren. We also visited my sister near Ulm and we climbed the Ulmer Münster, the highest church tower in the world (161 m). On our way back home we stopped by Rothenburg ob der Tauber, a perfectly preserved medieval city. Hotels and guesthouses in that area charge from around 40,- up to 70,- Euros for a double room with breakfast, sometimes even more. We found the best rates at http://www.hrs.de.
